Mukulu Oral Bible Translation (OBT) Project
1. Background
The Mukulu Oral Bible Translation (OBT) Project was launched on June 10, 2024, with the aim of translating the Holy Scriptures into the Mukulu language in an oral format. The project seeks to provide Mukulu-speaking communities with access to God's Word in a language they understand best, enabling them to hear, understand, and apply biblical truths in their daily lives.
The project adheres to internationally recognized Bible translation standards, ensuring that the translated Scriptures are accurate, clear, natural, and culturally acceptable to the Mukulu-speaking community.

2. Project Goal
The goal of the project is to provide the Mukulu-speaking people with the Word of God in their heart language through accurate and culturally appropriate oral Bible translation.
3. Project Objectives
- Translate the Bible into the Mukulu language.
- Produce high-quality oral Scripture recordings.
- Strengthen the Church by providing access to Scripture in their heart language.
- Preserve and promote the Mukulu language.
- Build local capacity in Bible translation.
4. Translation Progress
Since the project commenced on June 10, 2024, the translation team has made encouraging progress in translating the New Testament:
A. Gospel of Matthew

- Draft translation completed. The entire book is currently in the consultant checking stage.
B. Gospel of Luke
- Draft translation completed. The book is currently in the consultant checking stage, with only fourteen sections remaining for approval.
C. Gospel of Mark
- Translation has progressed significantly. Seven sections have reached the consultant checking stage, while other sections are pending community checking before consultant review.
D. Book of Acts
- Drafting is currently in progress.
5. Conclusion
The Mukulu Oral Bible Translation (OBT) Project has achieved remarkable progress since its launch on June 10, 2024. Thanks to a dedicated team of nine staff members and the support of BiLTA, significant milestones have been reached, including the completion of the draft translations of Matthew and Luke, ongoing advancement of Mark through consultant and community checking, and the drafting of the Book of Acts. The project remains committed to delivering high-quality Scripture translations that will serve the Mukulu-speaking community for generations to come.
